After flipping through catalogues and a desire to reduce his scrap pile Chuck Meeder purchased a couple of patterns from scrolleronline and crafted a freestanding book shelf and a wall shelf then finished with Watco Danish oil.  Might even be large enough to hold Tolstoy’s “War and Peace

Starting out with four inch slabs, Mark Bolinger turned these two paired bowls and no, they aren’t cymbals. 

Five weeks and a half dozen or so 2 aught spiral scroll saw blades resulted in Rick Spacek’s “Large Cutting” – a scene of nature at its finest.  Rick stained with dark walnut and clear natural and finished with a clear gloss.

From a class taught by Frank Strazza, George Alderete crafted this table of cherry using hand tools.  More “power” to you, George.

Charles Volek crafted this great looking duck for a church auction, no, not for his doctor, then decided he liked it so much he is going to make one for himself.  This one is of birch, birds-eye maple, cherry, walnut, etc., then stained with various colors.   

John Lastrapes explained that this gumbo plaque award of penny cypress with framed with mahogany is a work in progress.  The spoon as well as name plates will be attached later.  Now will John bring us some winning gumbo to sample? 

Scroll sawing numeral fives gave Ron Matherly trouble 40 some years ago so he made figure eights to grace a bar clock of pine as a Christmas gift for his father.  Advancing to CNC Ron crafted another bar clock that, this time, features the numeral five – all from one piece of cedar left over from a patio project.

Don Lackey made these spoons using spoke shaves and a gouge then finished with mineral oil.  The holes were drilled after the bowl was shaped. 

After belonging to Gulf Coast Woodturners for two years, Larry Barron now has his own lathe and churned out these bowls and boxes out of spalted pecan, aromatic cedar, mahogany and excess wood from a patio construction effort.  Looks like Larry has turned a corner in his skills.

With free mahogany from a friend, George Graves crafted both the box and the Valentine plaque for his wife.
